Violent Offender Thomas Patton Jailed for Three and a Half Years
Thomas Patton, 29, from Pallister Park, has been locked up for three and a half years after a series of brutal attacks on a woman. Found guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH), common assaults, intimidation, and coercive control, his violent spree ended in court this week.
Long-Awaited Arrest and Trial
After evading police for weeks, Patton was finally caught and charged. Despite denying all offences in November, he was remanded in custody ahead of a two-day trial in March. The court delivered a clear verdict: guilty on all seven counts.
Victim Left Terrified and Traumatised
Detective Constable Gary Liddell spoke out on the harrowing impact of Patton’s actions. “The physical assaults left the victim in great fear,” he said. “The mental distress from his coercive and controlling behaviour made her suffering even worse.”
Determined Police Pursuit Brings Justice
Liddell praised the relentless police work behind Patton’s capture. “He knew he was wanted and did everything to hide, but we stayed on his trail,” the detective explained. “Though he denied guilt, the court’s decision shows justice has been served.”
Protecting Victims and Cracking Down on Violence
“Tackling violence against women and girls is a top priority for policing nationally,” Liddell added. “Here in Cleveland, we’re focused on punishing offenders and supporting victims.”
On top of his jail sentence, Patton faces a five-year restraining order to keep the victim safe.
