Man Found Dead in Ilford Lane Sparks Murder Probe
A murder investigation is underway after a man’s body was discovered on a lane in Ilford early Saturday morning.
Body Discovered on Oaks Lane
Police were called to Oaks Lane, IG2, at 6am on 2 November after the man, believed to be in his 50s, was found unresponsive. Despite efforts from officers and the London Ambulance Service, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Head Injury Suspected Cause of Death
A post-mortem at East Ham Mortuary on Sunday revealed the man likely died from a head injury. Authorities are now working to identify him and contact his next of kin.
Detectives Appeal for Witnesses
“We would like to appeal to anyone who may have used the road or footpath near Aldborough Hatch Farm, off Oaks Lane, on the evening of Friday 1 November and early hours of Saturday 2 November,” said Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin.
“This route is popular with walkers, joggers, dog walkers and cyclists. Even if you didn’t see anything, your information could help us narrow down the timeline.”
She added: “We’re also keen to hear from anyone who spotted suspicious vehicles in the area during that time.”
