Gravesend Police Crack Down on Illegal E-Scooters and E-Bikes
Gravesend police pulled the plug on illegal e-scooter and e-bike riders, confiscating nine vehicles in just one day. The bold crackdown targeted law-breaking riders zooming on pavements—putting pedestrians at serious risk.
Officers Patrol Gravesend Town Centre
After rising concerns about dangerous riding, officers hit the streets of Gravesend town centre on Sunday, 14 December 2025. They stopped several suspects riding illegally on pavements, which is both against the law and a hazard to bystanders.
In total, nine e-scooters and e-bikes were seized. Reckless riders were slapped with Traffic Offence Reports on the spot.
Dramatic High-Speed Chase Leads to Drug Arrest
One 21-year-old was caught after refusing to stop on New Road. Kent Police called in drone support to track him down nearby on Peacock Street. A search uncovered cannabis on the rider and more Class B drugs at his home.
He was arrested for possession with intent to supply and released on bail while investigations continue. His e-scooter was also seized, and he got a Traffic Offence Report.
Police Warning: Illegal Riding Means Trouble
“Using e-scooters or e-bikes illegally is not only against the law, it’s dangerous. Riders risk serious injury to themselves and others when travelling on pavements or public roads. These vehicles are only permitted on private land with the landowner’s consent, and there are currently no Government-approved trials in Kent,” said Inspector Tom Elliott of Gravesend Community Safety Unit.
“Anyone caught riding illegally faces enforcement action, including seizure of the scooter and a Traffic Offence Report. We will continue to take action against anyone who flouts the law.”
