Nursery Worker Found Guilty of Shocking Child Abuse in London
A 22-year-old nursery worker has been slammed with 21 counts of child cruelty after a chilling investigation uncovered abuse at nurseries in Hounslow and Twickenham.
Roksana Helena Lecka, from Avro Place, Hounslow, was convicted on Monday, 16 June, at Kingston Crown Court following a six-week trial. The court heard how she mistreated vulnerable children in her care from October 2023 to June 2024.
Horrific CCTV Unveils Abuse
The shocking abuse came to light after a vigilant colleague reported strange behaviour. The Metropolitan Police’s Public Protection Command launched a probe and discovered terrifying CCTV footage from the nurseries.
The disturbing videos revealed Lecka:
- Pinching young children
- Forcefully dropping babies into cots
- Kicking a child in the face
- Stepping on a toddler’s shoulder
- Vaping dangerously close to infants
Over 300 Hours of Footage Examined
Investigators sifted through more than 300 hours of surveillance footage. Several children showed visible signs of harm including bruises, scratches, and emotional distress. Parents also provided photographic proof, with safeguarding experts now supporting all affected families.
Lecka was arrested on 5 July 2024 but refused to answer questions, even when confronted with the damning footage. Initially charged with 12 counts, the indictment ballooned to 24 counts of child cruelty involving multiple victims.
Guilty Verdict and Fallout
The jury found Lecka guilty on 21 counts, clearing her on three. She is due to be sentenced on Friday, 26 September, at Kingston Crown Court.
Detective Sergeant Geoff Boye of the Met’s Public Protection team said: “Lecka’s offending was prolific. Her actions caused serious harm to vulnerable children in her care. This case has understandably left a deep impact on the affected families and the wider community.”
The nurseries involved have since undergone safeguarding reviews, with further regulatory actions expected. The Met Police and local councils are working to reassure parents and restore faith in childcare facilities across the area.
