Met Police Officer Sacked for Inappropriate Touching on Duty
A Metropolitan Police officer has been booted from the force after a damning misconduct probe found him guilty of inappropriate behaviour towards a female colleague.
PC Rafiqur Rahman Faces Gross Misconduct Charges
PC Rafiqur Rahman, who patrolled Newham and Waltham Forest, was accused of breaching professional conduct by touching a fellow officer without consent while on duty. The misconduct hearing wrapped up on Monday, 12 February, confirming the serious allegations.
Investigation Sparks After Shocking Allegations
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards launched an investigation after the female officer reported Rahman’s misconduct in June 2022. The claims dated back to February 2021 when Rahman allegedly touched her inappropriately on shift. He then reportedly sent her an inappropriate message during a subsequent shift.
Dismissal and Career Ban Ensue
Rahman was placed on restricted duties during the investigation. The misconduct panel found the officer guilty of gross misconduct, leading to his immediate dismissal from the Met Police.
Following his sacking, Rahman has been added to the College of Policing’s Barred List. This blacklist prevents him from working for any police force, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or inspection services across the UK.
