Van Blaze in Hastings Road Sparks Suspicious Fire Probe

A van went up in flames in Hastings Road between 1.30am and 1.50am on Sunday, 10 December 2023. The fire quickly spread to a nearby fence, causing significant damage.

31-Year-Old Arrested After Fire

Kent Fire and Rescue swiftly tackled the blaze, preventing it from spreading further. A 31-year-old local man was arrested in connection with the fire. He has since been released on bail as police continue their investigation.

Police Hunt Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

PC Laura Craner of the West Kent Victim Based Crime Team said: “We are treating the fire as suspicious. We’re appealing for anyone who saw suspicious activity before 1.30am or anyone leaving the scene shortly after the fire started to get in touch.”

She added, “Motorists with dashcam footage and residents with CCTV are also urged to check their recordings for anything that might help.”
