Chaos in East London as Machete-Wielding Man Sparks Police Standoff

Officer Injured in Freak Attack

At around 11:50am on Sunday, 10 April, cops were called to Skelton Road, E7 after reports of a man brandishing a machete while suffering a mental health crisis.

When officers arrived, one was slashed on the arm and rushed to hospital. Thankfully, he’s since been discharged following treatment.

Rescue Operation: Fire Brigade Save Stranded Residents

Emergency services stayed on-site as police tried to reason with the armed man inside the house. Meanwhile, the London Fire Brigade stepped in to rescue several people trapped inside using ladders. Nobody was harmed.

Suspect Arrested After Self-Inflicted Wounds

After more than seven hours, police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder against the officer. The suspect was found with a knife injury to his neck—believed self-inflicted—and treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital. His condition is currently unknown.

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been notified, as standard procedure when injuries occur during police operations.
