Rotherham Monster David Fish Jailed for Sickening Abuse of Teen
A vile predator who abused a vulnerable 15-year-old girl in Rotherham has finally been brought to justice 17 years on. David Fish, 46, of Kilnhurst, has been convicted after a National Crime Agency (NCA) probe uncovered years of horrific sexual abuse.
Groomed Teen, Forced Into Sick Videos
The court heard Fish preyed on the girl in care from 2007. He met her at a park, traded numbers with her, and quickly exploited her trust. She was infatuated with the much-older man, who fed her drugs and alcohol before forcing her into sex.
Fish subjected her to brutal abuse over two years. The victim described waking up to find Fish raping her. When he suspected her of flirting with others, Fish smashed a mug on her head, leaving wounds that needed stitches.
National Crime Agency Cracks Case After Years
Operation Stovewood, the NCA’s investigation into historic Rotherham abuse, reopened the case in 2018 after the victim reported the crimes to police. She bravely spoke with officers, leading to Fish’s arrest in 2020.
Forensic experts uncovered shocking evidence from Fish’s computer – graphic videos of the victim as a child, which he had denied filming. This sealed the case against him.
Justice Served – But More Work Ahead
Fish pleaded guilty to some offences and was convicted of rape, unlawful wounding, and other sexual offences at Sheffield Crown Court. Two rape charges were dropped.
“National Crime Agency officers identified evidence which corroborated the victim’s account of Fish’s brutal and degrading crimes against her,” said Stuart Cobb, the lead NCA investigator.
“Despite Fish’s attempts to spin a consensual relationship, the jury saw the truth – years of horrific abuse. The victim showed incredible courage in coming forward. I urge any abuse victims to report it, no matter how long ago.”
Prosecutor Jeanette Smith added:
“Fish’s cruel abuse, using gifts, drugs and violence to control a child for his gratification, is appalling. This trauma lasts a lifetime. We thank the victim for her bravery and will always pursue justice for abuse victims.”
Operation Stovewood remains the UK’s largest investigation of historic sexual abuse in Rotherham, with over 1,100 victims identified and 38 convictions so far. More than 50 investigations are active.
Anyone affected by child sexual abuse can report to police via 101 or in person.
