A daring robbery turned terrifying kidnap in Northfleet has landed a 43-year-old Orpington man behind bars. Billy Friend now faces a host of serious charges after the shocking incident on Monday, March 5.
Violent Altercation Sparks Kidnap Attempt
Police were called to the scene following reports of a violent robbery at a Northfleet home. The attack left property inside the house badly damaged. Things took a dark turn when Friend allegedly forced the victim into a car, trying to drive them to a nearby cash machine.
Failed Getaway Ends in Crash
The kidnapper’s escape plan came to an abrupt halt when the vehicle crashed into a stationary car. The collision caused chaos and forced Friend to flee the scene on foot, leaving the victim stranded.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest
Authorities launched a rapid and thorough investigation, arresting Friend the very next day on March 6. He now faces multiple charges including robbery, kidnap, criminal damage, aggravated vehicle taking, injury by accident, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Billy Friend is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 8 to answer the serious accusations.
