Met cop charged after brawl with 14-year-old in Essex

A 14-year-old boy was assaulted by a serving Met Police officer, PC Paul Bewsey. The constable, who works with the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, was off duty when the clash took place.

Fight breaks out in Brentwood

The incident happened on April 21 in Brentwood, Essex. Essex Police say Bewsey and the teenager got into a fight on Hanging Hill Lane, which escalated into an assault. Details about the argument and the victim’s injuries remain unclear.

Charges and court date set

PC Bewsey was charged on October 21. He is due to appear at Basildon Magistrates Court on November 24. Meanwhile, he’s been placed on restricted duty. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed, keeping a close eye on the case.
