Homeless Thieves Nabbed Red-Handed in London Spree
Two homeless men were caught stealing phones and laptops right off the streets of London on January 15. Daniel Ramzi, 26, and Abderrahim Mamma, 29, both with no fixed address, admitted to four counts of theft each. Their targets? Unsuspecting victims at busy city spots.
Daylight Daring: Phone and Laptop Heists in the Heart of London
- At a Bishopsgate fast-food joint, the pair casually snatched a phone from a coat pocket before strolling away.
- They then hit a licensed venue on Gracechurch Street, stealing a laptop from a bag.
- Later, CCTV caught them at Leadenhall Market, swapping bags after lifting another laptop over a barrier.
Bag Swapping Tricks on Old Broad Street
The crime spree didn’t stop there. On January 21, Ramzi and Mamma targeted a pub on Old Broad Street. Ramzi was filmed swapping bags twice, cleverly replacing stolen items with different backpacks to avoid suspicion.
Prison Sentences and City Ban For The Pair
Mamma, who had seven extra theft offences beyond the City, was jailed for 20 months at Inner London Crown Court. He also received a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from the City of London. Ramzi got 14 months behind bars at Southwark Crown Court.
“This is another great result in seeing two prolific bag thieves behind bars,” said Sgt James Wood of City of London Police. “We hope these sentences reassure businesses and the public. Our message to criminals is clear: don’t come into the City to steal bags. We’ll bring offenders to justice and use every resource to stop crime.”
