Man Found Dead with Head Injury in Tower Hamlets Cemetery
Police were scrambled at 7am on Monday, 16 August after the London Ambulance Service found an unresponsive man in Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, Southern Grove, E3.
Officers and paramedics arrived to discover a man, believed to be around 50, suffering a fatal head injury. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide Squad Launches Full Investigation
Detective Chief Inspector Claire Hine of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command vowed to get to the bottom of it. She said, “The discovery of a body in these circumstances will understandably cause concern in the local community. An investigation is already underway, led by specialist homicide detectives. We are determined to find out what happened and to identify those responsible.”
At this stage, police are keeping an open mind about the cause of the fatal injury. A post-mortem is planned to shed more light.
Police Ask Public for Crucial Information
DCI Hine urged locals, “If you saw or heard anything unusual near Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park last night or this morning, please come forward. Any information, no matter how small, could be key.”
Superintendent Daniel Rutland added, “Specialist officers are investigating, and local cops will be visible in the area over the coming days. If you have concerns or information, please approach them or call police.”
No Arrests Yet – Police Appeal for Help
The victim’s next of kin are being informed. No arrests have been made and inquiries continue.
