Dog-nappers strike in Woodville – beloved sausage dog Minnie stolen in brazen daylight theft!
Dog Snatched on Moira Road
Just after 8.20pm on Sunday 11 April, two men ambushed a woman walking her two-year-old Miniature Dachshund, Minnie, near the New Inn pub in Woodville. The thugs allegedly tripped her, threatened her, and made off with the beloved sausage dog.
Getaway in Black Ford Mondeo
The crooks jumped into a black Ford Mondeo, registration starting YG60, and sped off towards Albert Village. Both men are believed to be in their 30s. One is described as white, stocky, with short fair hair.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Officers are hunting for anyone who noticed suspicious activity on Moira Road or near the Asda filling station on Burton Road between 8.10pm and 8.15pm – the suspected last stop for the getaway car before the theft.
Inspector Chris Thornhill said: “Incidents such as this are, thankfully, very rare in Derbyshire. However, I am very aware of the impact that these crimes have on victims and how worried fellow dog owners will be hearing this news.
“Patrols have been stepped up in the area and you may see an increased police presence in the coming days. I would urge anyone with information, or concerns, to speak to them.”
