Glass Bottle Attack on Bus Leaves Teen Injured

A 13-year-old boy was hurt after a glass bottle smashed a bus window in Southampton on Sunday evening.

Attack Details

The incident happened around 5pm on 20 November. The boy was sitting on a bus parked at Kendal Avenue, near the junction with Cuckmere Lane, when a group of youths threw a glass bottle at the window beside him.

The window shattered, causing facial injuries to the teenager from flying glass shards.

Police Make Arrest

Police arrested a 13-year-old from Southampton on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage under £5,000.

He has been bailed while enquiries continue.

Appeal for Witnesses

Sgt Loraine Stockham of Southampton West Neighbourhoods Policing Team said: “We believe the victim and the group were known to each other and that this was an isolated incident.

“We know there were a number of witnesses so I would encourage them to contact us with any information or mobile phone footage they might have.

“Similarly, if anyone has dash cam, CCTV or Ring doorbell footage, please get in touch.”
