Police raided two homes on Pound Road, Aldershot, on the morning of Thursday, July 7, uncovering a whopping 500+ cannabis plants in different growth stages. Three local men were arrested following the discovery.
Three Arrested in Huge Cannabis Bust
- A pair of 20-year-old Aldershot men were arrested on suspicion of producing a Class B controlled substance. Both have been released on conditional bail while investigations continue.
- The third suspect, a 23-year-old Aldershot man, faced the same drug charges plus an additional violation, but will not face further action for the drug offence.
Police Warn of Organised Crime Linked to Cannabis Farms
Police stressed that even small-scale cannabis operations come with hidden dangers. They warned that large-scale grows are often controlled by organised crime gangs, who carry out violent crimes involving firearms.
Safety Risks to Neighbours Highlighted
Officers also flagged the serious electrical hazards posed by such grow-ops. The massive power demands can put neighbouring homes and lives at high risk of fire or electrocution.
This latest bust is a stark reminder of the wider dangers behind illegal drug production.
