Two Men Charged with Murder in Brighton Street Stabbing

Police have charged two men with the brutal murder of 26-year-old Muhammed Lamin Jassey in Brighton.

Knife Attack Turns Deadly

The victim was stabbed in Whitehawk Road, near Findon Road, around 2.30pm on Sunday, 5 April. Despite rushing him to Royal Sussex County Hospital, Mr Jassey died from his injuries the same day.

Suspects in Custody, Others on Bail

  • Daryl Richardson, 26, unemployed, of Cumberland Road, portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth, and Bobby Smith, 21, unemployed, of no fixed address, have been charged with murder under CPS authority.
  • Both men are due to appear via video link at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 24 April.
  • Two other men aged 25 and 41 remain on police bail until 4 May.
  • Two women, aged 21 and 38, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, were released on 6 April. The 21-year-old remains under investigation; the 38-year-old faces no further action.

Police Call for Witnesses with Dashcam Footage

The victim’s family are being supported by our family liaison officers,” said Detective Chief Inspector Alex Geldart of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team. “We continue to pursue all lines of enquiry and urge anyone with information to come forward. “In particular, anyone who was in the area at the time with dashcam or video footage should get in touch.”
