Massive Illegal Rave Shut Down in Marlow Hill
Police swooped on a property in Marlow Hill, Wycombe, on Saturday to find around 200 partygoers crammed inside. The event, a ticketed music party spread over several rooms, broke all the Coronavirus rules.
Party Dispersed and £10k Fine Handed Out
Officers quickly dispersed the huge crowd for safety reasons. Most guests were from outside the local area. After investigating, police slapped the organiser with a hefty £10,000 fine for breaking the ban on gatherings of more than 30 people in private homes.
Three-Month Closure Order Issued
Thames Valley Police teamed up with Buckinghamshire Council to secure a court order shutting the property for three months. No one is allowed entry or to use the venue during that time.
Police Warn Against Flouting COVID Rules
Supt Emma Baillie, the Silver commander for the force’s Coronavirus response, blasted the blatant breach:
“With cases rising nationally and here in Thames Valley, it’s very disappointing that some still deliberately ignore laws designed to save lives and protect the NHS.”
“We’ve always aimed to engage and encourage compliance. But where there’s willful disregard, we enforce through dispersal, fines, or arrests.
“We’ll keep working with local councils and health teams to keep communities safe during this ongoing pandemic.”
