Woman Jailed for Attempted Arson in Hove

A 30-year-old woman from Amberley Drive, Hove, has been locked up for six years after a terrifying arson attack almost turned deadly.

Petrol Theft Sparks Fiery Attack

On 11th May 2021, Talisa Windsor stole 3.7 litres of petrol from a local station. Later that day, at 6.35pm, she went to a home in Moyne Close, doused it in the stolen fuel, and tried to set it on fire.

Thankfully, the residents—known to Windsor—escaped unharmed. Members of the public quickly called the police, leading to her swift arrest.

Threats and Narrow Escape from Disaster

Before the attack, Windsor had been sending threats to the family. CCTV footage revealed she managed to ignite a cigarette lighter, but luckily the petrol didn’t catch fire, preventing a potential tragedy.

At Chichester Crown Court on 18th February, Windsor was convicted of attempted arson reckless as to endangering life. Judge Trimmer labelled her a dangerous offender and added a three-year extended licence to her sentence.

Police Praise Community for Help

“This was an extremely disturbing incident which threatened the lives of a family with two young children inside the house,” said DC Rose Horan, the lead investigator.

“It was incredibly lucky the petrol didn’t ignite fully. Had it done so, this could have ended in tragedy.”

“I thank the victims, witnesses, and everyone who supported our investigation. Together, we’ve brought a dangerous individual to justice.”
