Cop Caught Misusing Police Car for Flirty Joyrides!
PC Andrew Ross Faces Gross Misconduct Charges
A misconduct hearing revealed shocking details about PC Andrew Ross. He faces two allegations of gross misconduct for misusing a marked police vehicle while on duty. Both incidents, from June and August 2019, involved Ross picking up the same woman—initially contacted via a website—in his police car.
Instead of official business, he drove her to an isolated spot, where they shared chats, kisses, and hugs. This blatant misuse directly broke the police force’s Standards of Professional Behaviour, including:
- Honesty and Integrity
- Authority, Respect and Courtesy
- Orders and Instructions
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Discreditable Conduct
Admits Guilt, Faces Immediate Dismissal
PC Ross admitted both allegations during the hearing at Wiltshire Police HQ in Devizes, chaired by a Legally Qualified Chair, as per Police Conduct Regulations. Following the ruling, Supt Steve Cox, Head of Professional Standards, spoke out:
“Most officers have the best intentions professionally and personally. The public expects the highest standards, and so do our training and culture. Any slip affects the trust and confidence we work hard to build with our communities.”
“Today is disappointing, but this hearing shows we handle breaches firmly and fairly.”
Police Commissioner Demands Accountability
Angus Macpherson, Wiltshire and Swindon’s Police and Crime Commissioner, slammed Ross’s behaviour as “dramatically falling short” of expected standards. He added:
“It’s vital those who break the rules are disciplined properly. The public deserves full confidence that those enforcing the law are held accountable. I fully back the immediate dismissal following this misconduct investigation.”
This case sends a clear signal: police officers caught abusing their positions won’t get off lightly. Trust in the force depends on strict adherence to the highest codes of ethics—on or off duty.
