Police Dig Up Gardens in Swindon in Major Crime Investigation

Specialist cops began digging in the gardens of two Broad Street properties in Swindon town centre today (20 February 2017). The excavation work is set to last five days.

Major Crime Team Takes Action

The Brunel Major Crime Investigation Team launched this targeted search after receiving fresh intelligence. Detective Chief Inspector Jeremy Carter, leading the probe, revealed: “Searches are being conducted in the gardens and garages of two properties in Broad Street this week.

“We have no plans to enter the homes themselves, but the work will disrupt the occupants. I want to stress that those living at these addresses are not involved in the investigation. We thank them for their patience during this time.”

Community Reassured Amid Police Operation

Supt Charlie Armstrong acknowledged that the police activity might worry residents. He said: “A police cordon will be in place around the alleyways in Broad Street for the next five days. This should not affect other local residents.

“Officers will patrol the area and are available to address any concerns related to the searches.”
