Katie Price Escapes Jail Over Restraining Order Breach
Katie Price has dodged prison despite breaching a restraining order linked to her ex-husband Kieran Hayler’s fiancé, Michelle Penticost.
The 44-year-old former glamour model, mum-of-five and reality TV star, pled guilty last month to violating a five-year restraining order. She will be sentenced this Friday at Lewes Crown Court.
Abusive Text Sparks Legal Trouble
Price was banned from contacting Michelle Penticost by direct or indirect messages after a restraining order was issued in June 2019 at Horsham Magistrates’ Court.
The prosecution revealed Price sent an abusive text to Hayler, calling his fiancée a “gutter s***” and a “c*****g w****.” This triggered the legal action.
The text reportedly came after Penticost posted on Instagram about people treating her badly—a post she claimed wasn’t about Price.
Victim Speaks Out on Mental Toll
“The impact of what Katie has done is very upsetting, I feel threatened and intimidated,” Michelle Penticost said in a victim impact statement read in court. She described the breach as having a “devastating effect” on her mental health.
Breaching a restraining order can carry a prison sentence of up to five years.
Lawyer Claims ‘Misunderstanding’ and ‘Provocation’
Price’s lawyer, Nicholas Hamblin, argued his client had a “misunderstanding” that the order applied both ways. He claimed Price “overreacted” and was provoked because she felt criticised.
Before the case wrapped up last month, the judge issued a stark warning to Price: “You are in very serious danger of going to prison. I really hope I don’t see you here again.”
