Gunman Jailed After Shocking Arsenal Found in London Cupboard
Rashorn Evans, 26, from Loughborough Estate, SW9, has been locked up for six and a half years after being found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. The verdict came following a swift, three-day trial at Inner London Crown Court on 17 February.
Shotgun and Handgun Hidden in Electrical Cupboard
The dramatic case unfolded on 5 October 2020, when an unsuspecting engineer arrived to work on an electrical cupboard in Stonehouse Street, SW4. To his horror, he discovered a sawn-off shotgun broken into parts and hidden inside a black plastic bag, along with a loaded handgun and magazine.
The weapons included a black “Jager Pistole DPR Angem” handgun and a shotgun that had been cut down for concealment. Both were tested and confirmed to be fully operational.
DNA Evidence Nails Evans
Crucial forensic work revealed a full DNA profile on the shotgun’s gnarled buttstock. The DNA matched Evans, sealing his fate. Police tracked him down at his home in March 2021 and arrested him. He refused to answer questions during the interview.
Drill Videos Show Evans Mimicking Gun Use
Officers also uncovered two drill music videos showing Evans pretending to hold and fire a shotgun, adding fuel to the prosecution’s case. Evans was formally charged on 29 March 2021.
Detective Constable Imran Hansraj, Specialist Crime, said: “Those hiding these weapons probably thought they had found a spot to keep them undiscovered until needed for some nefarious activity. But they didn’t count on our methods to flush out firearms offenders.”
“The engineer’s quick call to police likely prevented serious violence or even saved lives. We’re very grateful for his responsible action.”
“Evans is now behind bars for a significant time. Let this sentence be a warning — if you’re involved in firearms crime, we will find you, and you will go to prison.”
