Drugs row turns violent as thug jailed for carjacking and assault
Violent attack during drug deal goes wrong
Ross Treby and Caroline Mulliez were hunting for Class A drugs when things exploded in Eltisley last September. As Caroline approached a man’s car to buy drugs, Treby suddenly launched a brutal attack, punching the man repeatedly in the head. The 39-year-old victim tried to escape by starting his car, but Treby snatched the keys and hopped in to carry on the assault.
Car theft and DNA evidence seal the fate
After dragging the victim from the vehicle, Treby sped off in the car. Police traced Mulliez’s yellow Fiat Panda to her cambridge/" title="Cambridge" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Cambridge home, where they discovered the stolen car keys and victim’s phone. The victim’s Renault Clio was later found with Treby’s DNA on a glove inside.
Justice served at Cambridge Crown Court
At Cambridge Crown Court, Treby, 41, of Abercorn Place, Cambridge, copped a 30-month prison sentence. He pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm, taking a vehicle without consent, and theft. Mulliez, 48, received a 12-month conditional discharge for handling stolen goods.
Detective Constable Luke Pedlar said: “Treby launched an unprovoked attack on the man who suffered a dislocated jaw and has been left psychologically affected by the incident. Treby’s violent behaviour was completely unacceptable and I’m pleased he will serve time behind bars for his actions.”
