Woman Dies in Tragic Ilford Road Crash Just Steps from Home
Razia Hussain, 60, was fatally injured in a car collision on Eastern Avenue, Ilford on Saturday, 7 December. The incident happened mere steps from her home, shocking the local community.
Crash Details: Emergency Services Respond
Emergency crews rushed to the scene at 4:10 PM after reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian. Mrs. Hussain was found in cardiac arrest and sadly declared dead at 5:01 PM.
A post-mortem revealed she died from multiple severe injuries.
Coroner Calls Tragedy ‘A Set of Circumstances’
The inquest opened on 18 December at East London Coroner’s Court in Walthamstow, led by Senior Coroner Graeme Irvine. He called the event a “tragic set of circumstances” and stressed the need to uncover the crash’s cause to prevent future tragedies.
The full inquest is pencilled in for 2 July 2025, though delays in forensic investigations by the Metropolitan Police could push this back.
The coroner has asked the Serious Collision Investigation Unit to provide an update within 28 days on the police inquiry and potential prosecutions.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the driver stopped at the scene and has not been arrested. The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the probe.
