Skip Lorry Driver Banned After Violent Road Rage Rampage
Kevin Griggs has been slammed by Deputy Traffic Commissioner Nick Denton and had his operator’s licence revoked for at least a year. His vocational driving licence has also been suspended for the same period following a shocking road rage assault.
Road Rage Incident Caught on Camera
Griggs was involved in a minor collision at a roundabout. Instead of staying calm, he forced the other driver off the road, jumped from his cab wielding a table leg, and threatened the motorist aggressively. He even hit the driver on the back with the makeshift weapon before speeding off dangerously.
Convicted of Assault and Weapon Possession
At Snaresbrook Crown Court, Griggs was found guilty of:
- Assault by beating
- Possession of an offensive weapon in public
- Using threatening behaviour
- Driving without due care and attention
He received 4 points on his driving licence for the motoring offence. He was handed three suspended prison sentences: one month each for weapon possession and threatening behaviour, and six months for the assault. Griggs was also ordered to complete 100 hours of community service.
Crucially, Griggs failed to inform the traffic commissioner of his convictions.
Deputy Commissioner Condemns ‘Exceptionally Serious’ Conduct
During the inquiry, police video footage contradicted Griggs’ statements, branding him an unreliable witness. Deputy Commissioner Denton said:
“The incident was of an exceptionally serious and shocking nature. The public have a right to drive on the road without an operator using his skip lorry to force another vehicle to stop in a wholly inappropriate location causing danger to other road users. Other road users should not be subject to the abuse and violence dealt out by Mr Griggs, no matter what the excuse … The inescapable conclusion is that Kevin Roy Griggs is not fit to hold an operator’s licence.”
Griggs’ licence ban sends a strong message to reckless drivers: violent road rage won’t be tolerated on Britain’s roads.
