Skip Operator Banned After Violent Road Rage Rampage
Kevin Griggs’ Licence Revoked Over Shocking Road Rage Attack
Kevin Griggs has been banned from holding an operator’s licence for at least 12 months. Deputy Traffic Commissioner Nick Denton revoked his licence after a horrifying incident involving a violent road rage attack.
Table Leg Assault at Roundabout Sparks Court Conviction
Griggs caused a minor collision at a roundabout before forcing another vehicle off the road. The furious skip lorry driver then jumped out swinging a table leg, threatening and hitting the other driver with it. He sped off dangerously, putting other motorists at risk.
At Snaresbrook Crown Court, Griggs was convicted of assault by beating, possession of an offensive weapon in public, using threatening behaviour, and driving without due care. His punishments include:
- 4 penalty points on his driving licence
- One month imprisonment (suspended for 12 months) for weapon possession
- One month imprisonment (suspended for 12 months) for threatening behaviour
- Six months imprisonment (also suspended) for assault
- 100 hours of community service
Griggs also failed to inform the traffic commissioner about his convictions, raising serious concerns about his honesty.
Video Evidence Exposes Griggs’ Lies
During the inquiry, police footage contradicted Griggs’ statements about the incident. This led Deputy Commissioner Denton to label him an unreliable witness, further sealing his fate.
Deputy Commissioner Delivers Damning Verdict
“The incident was of an exceptionally serious and shocking nature. The public have a right to drive on the road without an operator using his skip lorry to force another vehicle to stop in a wholly inappropriate location causing danger to other road users. Other road users should not be subject to the abuse and violence dealt out by Mr Griggs, no matter what the excuse … The inescapable conclusion is that Kevin Roy Griggs is not fit to hold an operator’s licence.”
