Rochford Man Found Guilty of Murdering Dad of Two
Perry Coulson, 39, from Lesney Gardens, Rochford, has been convicted of murdering 32-year-old Dominic Clark-Ellingford. The jury delivered a unanimous verdict after a intense seven-day trial at Basildon Crown Court on Friday, 21 July.
Tragic Death Sparks Brutal Investigation
On the morning of 25 November 2022, police were called to a Lesney Gardens property following reports of a serious assault. Dominic Clark-Ellingford was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers found Coulson sitting in a car outside the house, his clothes stained with blood. He later went to a neighbour’s home for help and called his mother, saying chillingly, “He is dead, I’m sorry,” referring to Dominic.
Two-Decade Connection Ends in Tragedy
The investigation by the Essex and Kent Serious Crime Directorate revealed that Coulson and Dominic had known each other for nearly 20 years, recently growing closer as friends. Coulson refused to speak during police interviews after his arrest.
On 27 November, Coulson was charged with murder and remains in custody. Sentencing is set for 11 August at Basildon Crown Court.
Family Mourns Beloved Father and Friend
Detective Chief Inspector Julie Gowen said, “This was a horrendous assault, where a father of two lost his life. Our Serious Crime Directorate have dedicated hundreds of hours to secure justice for Dominic’s family. I hope today’s conviction offers them some closure.”
Dominic was remembered by family as a loving son, brother, uncle, and devoted father who cherished every moment with his two young children. He enjoyed adventurous days out, board games, and music, and was training to become a counsellor helping those battling addiction.
The family thanked Essex Police for their commitment and hope that justice will help them start healing from their devastating loss. Dominic’s children face an uncertain future without their cherished dad.
