Ex-Met cop Amelia Lancaster busted for using dead man’s bank card on Deliveroo and Amazon!

Fraud shocker from former police officer

Amelia Lancaster, 28, a former Metropolitan Police officer based at Wimbledon, has admitted to multiple fraud offences. She shockingly used a deceased man’s bank card to splash cash on Deliveroo and Amazon. The card became accessible after she attended a hotel room where the man had died from a drug overdose. Between October 31 and November 16, 2022, Lancaster ran up £302.51 in unauthorised charges.

More cards, more fraud — flatmate and others hit too

But that’s not all. Lancaster also rocked bank card details from four other people — including her flatmate and a personal trainer — racking up another £301.40 in dodgy spending from 2021 to 2022. These offences stretched across London and Bradford while she served with both the Metropolitan Police and West Yorkshire Police.

Caught thanks to vape shop and gym CCTV

Her crimes were uncovered after she tried to use a stolen card in a vape shop. The victim — a personal trainer who’d given her access to the gym’s staff room — spotted strange £5 transactions. Checking CCTV footage with the gym owner, the victim caught Lancaster red-handed.

Dismissed for gross misconduct

Chief Constable John Robins confirmed Lancaster’s sacking from West Yorkshire Police, branding her actions “gross misconduct.” “Conduct of this nature is not conducive to being a police officer,” he declared.

“She regrets her actions deeply,” said defence barrister Tom Orpin-Massey.

Lancaster pleaded guilty to four counts of fraud by false representation and misconduct in public office. She’s currently on unconditional bail and faces sentencing on January 31, 2025, at Kingston Crown Court where a custodial sentence is on the table under Judge Georgina Kent.
