Levi Bellfield Claims He Killed Lin Russell and Daughter in Shocking New Statement

Convicted killer Levi Bellfield – locked up for life over schoolgirl Millie Dowler’s murder – has dropped a bombshell. He’s now claiming responsibility for the gruesome Russell family murders that stunned Kent in 1996.

Another Man, Michael Stone, Stubbornly Protests Innocence

Michael Stone was twice convicted for the murders of Lin Russell and her six-year-old daughter Megan, plus the attempted murder of Megan’s sister Josie. Stone, however, has always protested his innocence.

Stone was first found guilty in 1998, and again in 2001 after his initial conviction was quashed due to doubts over a crucial prosecution witness. Subsequent appeals to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) in 2010 and a judicial review in 2011 were both rejected.

Bellfield’s Four-Page Confession Details Hammer Attack

Stone’s solicitor, Paul Bacon, has now received a four-page statement from Bellfield. In it, Bellfield chillingly describes the attack, including what he wore and how he carried it out.

Lin Russell and her daughters, aged nine and six, were viciously attacked on a quiet country lane in Chillenden. They were bound, blindfolded and bludgeoned with a claw hammer.

Bellfield – A Notorious Serial Killer Behind Bars for Life

Bellfield is already serving a life sentence for the murder of 13-year-old Millie Dowler, who vanished from Surrey in 2002. He is also convicted of killing Marsha McDonnell and Amelie Delagrange and the attempted murder of Kate Sheedy.

He will never be up for parole.

A Crown Prosecution Service spokesperson said: “This is currently not a matter for the CPS but we stand by to assist with either a new police investigation or a CCRC referral.
