Police Officer Fired Without Warning Over Racist, Misogynistic Messages
A serving officer has been axed without notice after a misconduct hearing found he sent vile racist and misogynistic messages to a woman.
PC David Seager’s Shocking Off-Duty Abuse
PC David Seager, a member of the southeast London policing team, faced a misconduct hearing on February 28. The panel ruled his actions amounted to gross misconduct.
Between February and December 2020, off-duty Seager bombarded a woman he knew with a series of disgusting messages. These included violent sexual threats and highly offensive racist and misogynistic comments.
Force Cracks Down: Zero Tolerance on Bad Behaviour
Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry slammed Seager’s conduct as “sickening” and reaffirmed the force’s strict stance on standards. “PC Seager has been rightly dismissed,” Lawry said. “The Commissioner is clear: anyone who falls below our high standards will be removed.”
Investigation Led to Suspension, Dismissal and Barred List
The Directorate of Professional Standards launched their probe in October 2021, resulting in Seager’s suspension the following month.
The misconduct hearing confirmed he breached multiple standards including authority, respect, equality, and dignity.
Following his dismissal, Seager is now on the College of Policing’s Barred List—banned from all police and related local body employment.
