Flat Shut Down Over Neighbour Harassment
The flat on Oak Road, Murston linked to repeated threats and harassment has been shut down again. Maidstone Magistrates Court extended the closure order on Thursday 24 November 2022. Originally in place from 26 August to 25 November, the ban will now last until 25 February 2023.
Entry Ban: Tough Penalties for Trespassers
The order makes it illegal for anyone to enter the property. Anyone caught breaking it could face up to 51 weeks in prison and a hefty fine. Police have worked with the housing association to keep the flat sealed tight, with clear signs warning that entry is a criminal offence.
Police Crack Down on Anti-Social Behaviour
PC Jamie Spencer, from the Swale Community Safety Unit, said: “Tackling anti-social behaviour remains an absolute priority for us, as these types of issues can make people’s lives a misery and have a profound negative impact on the local community. An extension of this closure order is therefore an important step to help us prevent any recurrence of the persistent intimidation, threats and verbal abuse that residents living nearby had to previously endure.”
The crackdown aims to bring peace back to the neighbourhood and stop the nightmare neighbours from terrorising locals any further.
