David Berbers Jailed for 11 Years Over Shocking Hove Rape Attack
A 21-year-old man from Richmond upon Thames has been locked up for 11 years after a brutal sexual assault in a Hove park. David Berbers was convicted of raping a girl under 16 in St Ann’s Well Gardens on the evening of July 25, 2021.
Instagram and Phone Records Help Crack Case
The attack happened after Berbers and the victim arranged to meet via the 123 support platform. Police swiftly identified Berbers using his Instagram account, phone number, and a victim description. He was arrested in London just three days after the assault, on July 28, 2021.
Multiple Charges and Court Conviction
- Charged with the rape of a minor linked specifically to the Hove incident
- Additional charges included two more counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, and possession of extreme pornography
- Found guilty of three counts of rape and one attempted rape at Kingston Crown Court on December 4
- Sentenced on February 16 to 11 years in prison plus a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order
