UK Launches Emergency Evacuation for Britons Trapped in Sudan
Operation Begins Today
The UK Government has kicked off a crucial evacuation to get British nationals out of Sudan starting Tuesday, April 25. Military flights will depart from an airfield just outside Khartoum, backed by senior diplomats from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
Priority Given to Vulnerable Groups
Flights are reserved exclusively for holders of British passports. Priority boarding goes to families, the elderly, and individuals with medical conditions.
Officials will contact eligible evacuees directly. Britons are warned NOT to head to the airfield unless called.
Situation Remains Volatile
The government says the safety of British nationals remains the top priority amid Sudan’s unstable conditions. Officials caution that evacuation plans may shift at short notice.
Coordinated International Efforts Underway
The UK is working closely with international partners to facilitate departures and is exploring additional exit options from Sudan. Travel advice has been updated to reflect these developments.
