Carer Jailed for Stealing Rings from Vulnerable Care Home Resident
A St Helens woman has been locked up for 18 months after nicking jewellery from a care home resident.
Emma Skinner Caught Stealing from Care Home Resident
Emma Skinner, 42, from Thackray Road, Thatto Heath, admitted sneaking into a male resident’s room at a Maghull care home in February 2022. She swiped rings straight off his fingers.
Jewellery Pawned and Never Recovered
Skinner didn’t stop there. She pawned the stolen rings at a jewellery shop, but the prized possessions were never found again.
She pleaded guilty to theft from a person and was sentenced today at Liverpool Crown Court.
Detective Slams ‘Lowest of the Low’ Crime
“Targetting vulnerable people and stealing from them while in a trusted position is the lowest of the low,” said Detective Inspector Jay Halpin.
“We are dedicated to protecting those in our communities who are the most vulnerable and taking action against those who seek to exploit them.”
“Skinner was supposed to be a carer looking after people but instead used it as an opportunity to steal and sell this man’s treasured possessions. It is right she is now behind bars.”
