21-Year-Old Charged Over Early Morning Brutality in Canterbury City Centre
Violent Assault Rocks Canterbury High Street
A 21-year-old man has been charged following a vicious assault in Canterbury city centre at the crack of dawn. Police were called to a disturbance on High Street at around 4am on Sunday, 23 May 2021.
Two Men Hospitalised After Attack
Two men in their twenties suffered facial injuries in the shocking incident near St Margaret’s Street junction. They were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Officers quickly arrested four people tied to the assault.
Suspects Released While One Remains in Custody
- Two Canterbury men, aged 19 and 22, and a 25-year-old woman have been released on bail until 20 June while investigations continue.
- Callum Gabbitas, 21, of Bramshaw Road, Canterbury, faces charges of grievous bodily harm with intent and a public order offence. He remains in custody.
- Gabbitas is set to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 24 May.
