Teen Arrested After Chaplain Stabbed Outside Renmore Barracks
A shocking stabbing took place on Thursday night outside Renmore Barracks in County Galway. A teenage boy has been arrested after allegedly attacking a military chaplain.
Chaplain Seriously Injured in Nighttime Assault
The victim, a man in his 50s, was stabbed around 10:45 p.m. while providing pastoral care at the barracks. Emergency services rushed him to University Hospital Galway where he remains in serious but stable condition.
Investigation Launched as Motive Remains Unknown
Gardaí arrested the suspected teen at the scene. They have launched a full investigation, treating the incident as a serious assault. The motive behind the attack is still unclear.
A Gardaí spokesperson said: “We are investigating a stabbing incident that took place at Renmore Barracks, County Galway, on Thursday night. A male in his 50s sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital. A male juvenile has been arrested in connection with this incident, and investigations are ongoing.”
