A 17-year-old boy faces murder charges after a fatal stabbing on New Year’s Eve in Lewisham.
New Year’s Eve Horror on Grove Street
Police were called at 12:35pm on December 31 after reports of a stabbing in Grove Street, Lewisham. Emergency crews, including the London Ambulance and Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene. There, they found 23-year-old John Temitope Onetufo from Deptford with a deadly chest wound.
Tragically, despite desperate efforts to save him, John was pronounced dead at the scene.
Teen Charged with Murder
A 17-year-old boy, whose identity is withheld due to his age, has been charged with John’s murder. He is scheduled to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Youth Court on Monday, 5 December.
Separately, a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday, 2 September, but has since been released on bail while investigations continue.
Woman Arrested Over Case
On Sunday, 4 January, police also arrested an 18-year-old woman on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. She remains on bail as the inquiry moves forward.
