A 16-year-old boy from Portsmouth has been locked up for five years after a savage, unprovoked attack near the Esso petrol station on Kingston Road.
Violent Assault Leaves Man Seriously Injured
In the early hours of Monday, 23 July, two groups were viciously targeted by a gang of youths. The victim, a 44-year-old man, was knocked unconscious before being repeatedly punched and kicked while on the floor. He suffered multiple facial cuts, lost two teeth, and broke his cheekbone in the brutal beating.
Justice Served: Guilty Plea, 5-Year Sentence
The teenager pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent. On Thursday 8 November, he was sentenced to five years in a young offenders’ institute for the vicious attack.
Police Speak Out
Detective Constable Sam Hockley said: “This was a particularly nasty, unprovoked attack, which knocked the victim unconscious and unable to talk for some time.”
“I hope the sentence that this young offender has received will help the victim put the ordeal of the assault behind him.”
Detective Chief Inspector added: “Tackling violence is a priority for us in Portsmouth. This sentence highlights the severity of this crime and I hope that it provides reassurance to our community that we will do everything in power to bring offenders to justice.”
