Teen Charged with Murder of Schoolgirl Ellie Gould

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of schoolgirl Ellie Gould. He appeared via video link at Salisbury Magistrate’s Court this morning, held at Melksham police station. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Friday afternoon after Ellie’s body was found at her home on Springfield Drive.

Tragic Scene: Paramedics Fought to Save Ellie

Paramedics battled desperately to save Ellie but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Police were called by ambulance staff around 3.15pm, and shortly after, the 17-year-old was arrested nearby in the 1 Hill area.

No Plea Entered, Teen Remanded in Custody

At court today, the boy entered no plea. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Bristol Crown Court on Thursday 9 May. Wiltshire Police urged the public to avoid speculation. A statement read:

“We would like to continue to stress the importance of not speculating or commenting publicly on anything to do with this investigation. We understand the high public interest, but with court proceedings now active, comments that could jeopardise the case must be avoided.”
