Teenager to Face Court Over Battersea Murder
A 16-year-old boy from Wandsworth is set to appear in court today, Friday 31 May, charged with the murder of a man in Battersea. The teenager was arrested on Wednesday, 29 May, following the victim’s death.
Second Suspect in Custody
Police also arrested a 19-year-old man yesterday after he voluntarily turned himself in at a south west London police station. Both suspects are now under investigation for the murder.
Victim Named as Brazilian Man
The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Brazilian national Iderval da Silva. A post-mortem is scheduled to determine the cause of death.
Ongoing Murder Probe by Homicide Command
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command continue their investigation. Another 16-year-old boy was arrested near the scene on the day of the attack on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has since been released on bail and must return to west London police station in early June as inquiries continue.
