Teenager Jailed for Nearly 10 Years Over Bike Dispute Stabbing
An 18-year-old man has been locked up for nine years and nine months after stabbing a teenage boy during a dispute over a dodgy motorbike in Northfleet.
The Brothers and the Violent Row
Monsur Ali pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and carrying a knife in public. His older brother, 25-year-old Dilwar Hussain, was handed a 12-month suspended sentence for affray. Both brothers live on Nelson Road, Northfleet.
Knife Attack Sparks Alarm on Haynes Road
Kent Police responded to calls about a disturbance at 5pm on Sunday 4 July 2021. They found a 17-year-old with a stab wound. The boy was rushed by air ambulance to hospital.
Less than an hour later, officers caught Ali and Hussain driving a blue Vauxhall Astra on Old Road West, Gravesend – matching the getaway car description. Hussain had blood on his face, and Ali had a cut hand.
Investigation Reveals Cause: Faulty Bike Row
Detectives from Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate uncovered that three visitors had stormed the brothers’ home earlier, demanding a refund for a faulty motorbike sold by Ali. The brothers ignored the shouting and banging, then went out to track the group down.
A fight broke out, and Ali stabbed the 17-year-old victim.
Detective Inspector Ross Gurden said: “This was a shocking incident which took place in daylight hours and caused considerable concern to residents who witnessed it. Rather than call Kent Police following the dispute over the bike, Ali and Hussain decided to take the matter into their own hands. Their reckless actions led to a serious injury for their victim and Ali is now facing a lengthy prison sentence.”
