Four men have been locked up for a combined 28 years after using a WhatsApp group to push Islamic State propaganda and funnel cash for terrorism. The West Midlands Counter Terrorism Police cracked the chilling encrypted network that spread graphic IS content and raised thousands in illegal funds.

  • Mohammed Hamad, 30: Pleaded guilty to spreading terrorist material. Sentenced to 4 years.
  • Roshman Azad Wali Saeed, 30: Found guilty on six charges including funding terror. Jailed for 12 years.
  • Tshko Ahmad Mohamad, 33: Convicted of fundraising offences. Received 7 years.
  • Omar Hussain Ahmadi, 24: Caught with £7,000 hidden in baby milk tins at Stansted Airport. Sentenced to 5 years 4 months.

How Police Snuffed Out the Plot

West Midlands counter-terror teams seized over £4,000 in cash, 30 SIM cards, multiple encrypted phones, and graphic Islamic State propaganda. Detective Superintendent Annie Miller condemned the group’s activities:

“This group chat promoted propaganda and raised funds for IS activities, which is entirely unacceptable.”
