Two Men Cut Free After High-Speed Crash Into £500K London Home
Fiery Crash Sparks Gas Explosion Fears
In the early hours of Friday, two men had to be cut free by firefighters after a car smashed into a £500,000 end-of-terrace house on Beckett Close, Belvedere. The violent collision sparked fears of a possible gas explosion, shaking nearby homes and causing chaos on the quiet street.
High-Speed Horror on Beckett Close
Emergency services were scrambled just after 4am following reports of a Chrysler 300C crashing into a property and trapping occupants inside the vehicle. Witnesses said the car was speeding at least 100 miles per hour before the devastating impact. “It sounded like a gas explosion,” a shaken neighbour said. “The whole house shook, and the windows rattled.”
A second vehicle, a black Tesla Model Y belonging to the homeowner, was also totally wrecked, hit while parked nearby. Thankfully, the homeowner escaped without injury.
Major Emergency Response and Rescue
Police closed Abbey Road in both directions as the London Fire Brigade and HART paramedics rushed in to save the trapped men. Firefighters from the Specialist Fire Rescue Unit worked swiftly to remove the doors and extract the victims. Both were immobilised on spinal boards and rushed to a major trauma centre in London.
Gas Pipe Concerns and Ongoing Investigation
Emergency engineers are now on scene assessing a possible gas pipe rupture caused by the crash. The area remains cordoned off while the safety of the building and gas supply is checked. Police continue investigating the cause of the collision, with no official details released yet.
