US Government Accused of Sabotaging UK Justice Over Anne Sacoolas Videolink Hearing
Family Slams ‘Active Interference’ in Court Case
Radd Seiger, speaking for Harry Dunn’s family, hit out at the US government for “actively interfering in our criminal justice system.” The anger comes after Anne Sacoolas, a US government employee, was told she could attend Thursday’s Old Bailey hearing via video link.
Sacoolas, who killed 19-year-old Dunn by driving on the wrong side of the road near RAF Croughton, has pleaded guilty. But since her plea on October 20, Harry’s family say they have been kept completely in the dark about the hearing.
‘Cowardly’ Move Sparks Fury
“Harry’s parents are victims of a serious crime, and this continued cruelty is inhumane,” Seiger slammed. “We are appalled the US government is sabotaging our justice system.”
Seiger said the family would understand if Sacoolas had a “genuine reason” for not attending in person. But he called the decision to allow a videolink appearance “nothing short of a cowardly act from an oppressor.”
Calls for Urgent Government Action
The family spokesman has demanded an urgent meeting with Foreign Secretary James Cleverly to find out how the UK government plans to respond to what he called “ongoing US injustice.”
Remember, Harry Dunn was killed in August 2019 near RAF Croughton, an American intelligence base in Northamptonshire. Sacoolas fled the UK just 19 days later, citing diplomatic immunity granted by the US government.
