‘Ginge’ County Drug Gang Faces 26 Years for Brutal Cuckooing Crimes

Four men linked to the notorious ‘Ginge’ county drugs line are staring down nearly 26 years behind bars. A judge slammed the gang for exploiting vulnerable victims with “extreme violence with weapons.”

Barbaric Violence Rocks Bedfordshire Communities

Detectives are warning Bedfordshire locals to stay alert to the deadly practice of cuckooing, where organised criminals take over people’s homes to run drugs operations. Gang members Shamadul Islam and Mohammed Ali terrorised victims with terrifying acts.

  • Forcing an antique shotgun into a victim’s mouth
  • Striking another on the head with a machete
  • Forcing victims to strip naked to hide drugs
  • Dragging one victim to a cash point to withdraw over £200 for the gang

The gang, a “frightening sight” according to reports, operated out of a small flat, intimidating those inside while waving weapons around. Judge Stevens said, “The residents were frightened – and with good reason.”

Victims Fight Back: Escape and Justice

One brave victim managed to flee and found safety at a homeless shelter, whose staff alerted police. The gang members have now been convicted of multiple crimes including false imprisonment, blackmail, assault, possession of an imitation firearm, and criminal damage.

The judge praised the shelter staff for their crucial role in helping bring the gang to justice. “The ordeal this gang put these people through was horrifying,” she added.

Stay Vigilant: How to Spot Cuckooing

Police urge communities to watch out for signs like:

  • Residents refusing to open their doors

Communities must stay alert to protect vulnerable people from falling prey to these dangerous drug gangs.
