Third Man Charged After Fiery Attack in Stockbury Valley

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have charged a third man over a terrifying arson attack that nearly ended in tragedy. The blaze, which ripped through a mobile home and several vehicles in Stockbury Valley, happened in the early hours of Saturday 5 May.

Triple Attempted Murder Charges

Billy Smith snr, 52, Billy Smith jnr, 28, both from Miller Close, Kemsley, and Eli Smith, 22, of Lewis Close, Faversham, were all arrested and charged. Each faces four counts of attempted murder, alongside arson and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

All three were remanded and set to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on 4 June.

  • A 54-year-old Stockbury man arrested on suspicion of assault is bailed until 1 June.
  • A 23-year-old Stockbury man also bailed on assault charges until 1 June.
  • A 20-year-old man from Stockbury with the same assault suspicion, bailed until 1 June.
  • A 22-year-old woman from Sheerness arrested for arson and criminal damage has been bailed until 31 May.
