Three arrested after Kent police drone hunts down stolen Mercedes in secret chop shop
Stolen Mercedes spotted by Kent Police drone
Kent Police deployed a drone that swiftly tracked a stolen Mercedes-Benz hidden in Yalding. The luxury C-Class car, reported stolen in a London burglary, was found parked with false number plates outside a secluded building on Yalding Hill on Thursday, 10 April.
Chop shop raid leads to three arrests
Inside the building, officers discovered tools and stripped car parts, revealing a suspected chop shop. While investigating, three men arrived in a van and were promptly arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and motor vehicle theft. The suspects – aged 26, 38, and 52 – are all from London and have been released on bail as inquiries continue.
Police praise drone tech in rapid recovery
A Kent Police spokesperson hailed the drone operation as a game-changer, saying:
“The use of drone technology in this case was vital to locating the stolen vehicle quickly and safely. This is an excellent example of how modern tools can aid traditional policing to disrupt criminal activity.”
