Three men have been charged after four ambulances were set ablaze in a shocking arson attack in north London.
Police and CPS Crack Case
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) gave the green light to charges following an intense police probe into the blaze at Golders Green. Frank Ferguson, head of the CPS Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, confirmed there’s enough evidence to prosecute.
“Hamza Iqbal, 20, Rehan Khan, 19, and a 17-year-old boy have each been charged with arson with intent to damage property and being reckless as to whether life would be endangered,” said Ferguson.
The charges relate to the destruction of four Hatzola ambulances, a volunteer-led service, torched in the early hours of March 23.
Court Appearance and Legal Warnings
Iqbal and Khan, both from Leyton, along with the unnamed 17-year-old, are due in Westminster Magistrates’ Court today. The CPS stressed the importance of a fair trial and urged the public to avoid sharing anything online that could prejudice the case.
“It is vital that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings,” added Ferguson.
