Three men locked up for savage Huddersfield street brawl
Brutal attack on Cross Church Street
Kirklees cops have hailed justice after three men were sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on April 1 for their roles in a violent disorder in Huddersfield.
The shocking attack unfolded in the early hours of March 1, 2020, on Cross Church Street. A group of males assaulted two men, leaving one seriously hurt after being repeatedly battered while on the ground.
Sentences handed down
Mohammed Asad, 23, from Bentley Street, was jailed for eight years and three months. He was convicted of unlawful wounding to both victims, affray, carrying a bladed weapon, and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Conor Lyons, 27, of Brook Street, got two years and eight months for affray and unlawful wounding to one victim.
Kamil Wlasiuk, 21, of Browning Road, received 18 months for affray and unlawful wounding.
All three men pleaded guilty.
Detective praises swift justice
“We welcome the sentencing of these three men for what was a disgraceful display of violence in Huddersfield town centre,” said Detective Inspector Oliver Coates of Kirklees CID.
“One of the victims continued to be attacked even as he lay on the floor. It’s extremely fortunate he wasn’t even more seriously injured given how ferocious the assault was.”
“The three defendants were quickly identified and arrested. I hope this conviction brings some comfort to the victims.”
