Three Men Jailed Over Massive Gravesend Cannabis Haul
Three men have been locked up for a total of 10 years after cops uncovered over a tonne of cannabis in a daring Gravesend drug bust.
Police Spot Suspicious Van Loaded with Drugs
On 13 November 2024, officers in an unmarked car flagged down a nervous Ford Transit on Wrotham Road. Inside were driver Ramesh Tuladhar and passenger Jack Phillips, both spinning shaky tales about their journey.
A thorough search revealed more than 500kg of vacuum-sealed cannabis and £2,005 in cash. Tuladhar and Phillips were promptly arrested.
Third Man Nabbed After CCTV Hunt
Detectives scoured CCTV footage, tracing the van’s earlier route and spotting a different man driving — 59-year-old Sukhwant Goraya. He was arrested the same day while driving another vehicle.
More Drugs Discovered in Linked Homes
- Police raided Phillips’ properties in Brixton and Wanstead, finding a staggering 933kg of cannabis along with scales and a drug press.
- Tuladhar’s Stoke Newington address also yielded more cannabis.
Tuladhar, 58, and Phillips, 70, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply at Medway Magistrates’ Court. Goraya denied involvement but was convicted at Maidstone Crown Court.
Jail Time for the Drug Trio
On 23 December, Maidstone Crown Court sentenced Tuladhar to 2 years, Goraya to 3 years, and Phillips received 5 years behind bars.
Detective Constable Aaron Chapman said: “We estimate the combined haul at around 1.3 tonnes with a street value over £1 million. These men were raking in huge profits. It’s great to have seized these drugs and their ill-gotten gains.”
“This case shows how effective proactive policing is, and we’re pleased these criminals will spend serious time behind bars.”
